KOCHI: The State Women's Commission has requested the High Court to release the Justice Hema Committee report on the issues of women in the film industry. In the petition filed in the High Court, the Commission pointed out that the Hema Committee report will be a guideline to solve the problems faced by women in the film industry. The court allowed WCC, a women's association in cinema, to join parties in the case along with the Women's Commission.

The single bench of the High Court is considering the plea filed by producer Sajimon Parayil seeking not to release the Hema Committee report. The High Court, which concluded the hearing on the petition, adjourned it to next Tuesday for order.

The High Court had earlier temporarily stayed the release of the report on a petition filed by Sajimon Parayil. Sajimon filed the petition saying that personal information including his own would be revealed. However, the government counsel told the court that only a partial report containing selected information is being released and the report does not contain any personal information. The High Court stayed the release of the Hema Committee report for a week hours before its release. The case was reheard on July 31, but was adjourned to today on the demand of the petitioners. The argument was concluded on this.
