Stray dog which bit seven in Kottayam including child had rabies; confirms post-mortem

KOTTAYAM: Rabies has been confirmed in a stray dog that bit locals in Pampady. It has been confirmed in the post-mortem. The dog had bitten seven people on Saturday including a child who was sleeping at home. After this, the dog was beaten to death by the locals.

The body was sent for post-mortem as the dog was suspected to be infected with rabies. The post-mortem was completed a while ago. As rabies has been confirmed, those who were injured by dog bite are being closely monitored.

The dog attacked seven people within three hours on Saturday afternoon. Nisha Sunil, a housewife, suffered 38 injuries in the attack. Another woman who came to save her was also injured
