
TALIPARAMBA: PK Shyamala (65), who is contesting as the CPM candidate from Taliparamba, has assets worth Rs 1.5 crore along with her husband, CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan. The candidate has assets worth Rs 32,61,778. These include an FD of Rs five lakh in Pappinisseri Cooperative Rural Bank, two deposits of Rs 2.5 lakh each in Morazha Kalliasseri Service Cooperative Bank, pension savings of Rs 38,910 in Taliparamba Sub-Treasury and Rs 8,000 in cash. P.K. Shyamala also has a Maruti Swift car bought for Rs 5 lakh in 2010, 120 grams of gold ornaments (Rs 16 lakh), a deposit of Rs one lakh in Malayalam Communications Limited and an LIC policy (Rs 14,808).
M.V. Govindan has assets worth Rs 55,48,689. This includes Rs 41 lakh in multiple fixed deposits in the Thiruvananthapuram Legislative Complex Sub-Treasury, an FD of Rs 32 lakh in Morazha Kalliasseri Bank, Rs 1,17,974 in the Kannur University Campus branch of SBI, Rs 5,000 in hand, and a deposit of Rs 10,000 in Malayalam Communications Limited.
P.K. Shyamala owns a total of 4.641 acres of agricultural land in Chavassery, Kolari and Kurumathur villages. The approximate market value of these is Rs 30 lakh. Her husband owns 0.46 acres of land (market value Rs. 12 lakhs) in Anthoor Village and a house measuring 2500 sq ft on 8710 sq ft land with a market value of Rs. 30 lakhs. Shyamala also has a criminal case in her name in connection with the protest march.
