Two youths die tragically after boat capsizes while fishing in Aranmula

ARANMULA: Two youths died tragically after their boat capsized while fishing in the paddy fields in Aranmula. One person is missing. The victims were identified as Mithun (30) of Mariparambil, Nellikal, Koipram, and Rahul (29) of Mukadiyil, Kidangannur. The missing person is Devan (35) of Mariparambil, Nellikal.

The three went for fishing in a fibre boat at 6.30 pm on Sunday in the paddy fields of Nellikal, Thrikkannapuram, which were heavily flooded due to the rain. The undulating waters caused the boat to capsize with the three youngsters. The bodies of the two were found around 7 pm during a search conducted by the fire force, police and locals who arrived from Pathanamthitta. The bodies were shifted to the Kozhencherry District Hospital mortuary. The funeral will be held later.

As the rains continue in Palakkad, two people went missing in two places after being swept away by the river. Yusuf, a native of Ottapalam Palappuram, and A. Ummar Farooq (45), a native of Adiperanda in Nemmara Ayaloor, were swept away by the current while they were fishing near the Meetna dam in the Bharathapuzha. The search for them is ongoing.
