Summer rains to continue; Palakkad records temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Summer rains are likely to continue across the state. Today, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts.

At the same time, the intensity of heat is also increasing in several districts. Palakkad recorded a high temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius yesterday, the highest so far this season. In Punalur, the temperature rose to 39.8°C.

Today, temperatures may reach up to 39°C in Palakkad and 38°C in Kollam. In Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Thrissur, temperatures could go up to 37°C. Meanwhile, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts may see temperatures rising to 36°C.
