Woman on way to work dies after bus runs over her

PALAKKAD: A woman was killed after she was mowed down by a bus. The dead is Sangeetha (35) of Kadumthuruthy Thottathil House. The accident happened at Yakkara Junction Wednesday morning at 8.30 am. The bus hit the scooter she was travelling. When the scooter overtook a private bus that was stopped in Yakkara Junction, the bus suddenly moved forward and hit the two-wheeler. Locals said that in the impact, the scooter overturned and she fell under the bus. The rear wheel of the bus ran over her body.

Sangeetha was an employee of a bakery near Kotta Maithanam. The accident happened when she was going for work in the morning. Her husband is Ramachandran, a loading worker. Sareeshma and Sareesh are her children.

The body is kept in the mortuary of the district hospital. It will be handed over to her relatives after post-mortem. She will be laid to rest at the crematorium in Vazhakadavu. Some locals said the accident was due to the carelessness of the bus driver.
