NEW DELHI: On April 9, voters will head to the polls to decide which party will govern Kerala for the next five years. The counting of votes for all states and the Union Territory is scheduled for May 4. The election notification is being issued today, and the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect following the announcement by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Voters in Kerala will head to the booths on the 25th day after the announcement and will wait another 25 days to know the results. Candidates will have 23 days to campaign.

In Tamil Nadu, voting will be held on April 23. Puducherry and Assam will go to the polls on the same day as Kerala (April 9). In West Bengal, voting will take place in two phases on April 23 and 29.
