'The colours will not fade, for sure. The return of a fighter, Sanju in the World Cup team.
The news that our own Sanju Samson has been included in the Indian team for the T20I World Cup is a matter of pride for the whole of Kerala. This is not an ordinary selection, but recognition of merit.
Sanju took on the role of T20 opener last October and scored three centuries in just five innings. Even after building one of the best opening partnerships India has seen with Abhishek Sharma, he was left out of the Asia Cup squad that followed. Fans were deeply disappointed when Sanju lost his place despite being in top form, as part of efforts to groom Shubman Gill for the captaincy. This disappointment was felt not just by fans, but by everyone who loves cricket.
However, without being discouraged by repeated neglect, Sanju has responded with his bat and made a grand comeback. His quality as an opener can no longer be ignored. May Sanju become one of India’s key players in this World Cup. I wish him all success and hope he brings great glory to Kerala.'
