CHENNAI: Malayali cricket star Sanju Samson returned to doing what he does best. Sanju, who went through a lacklustre three games in a yellow jersey for Chennai, found his form in the fourth game. The fourth game saw Sanju smashing a debut century with his new team. With Sanju’s power-packed performance, Chennai scored 212 runs against Delhi Capitals. Chepauk had its share of entertainment as Sanju started his batting fireworks even from the first over. The player, who completed his century in 52 balls, remained unbeaten on 115 runs.
Sanju's scores in the first three matches of the season were 6, 7 and 9. Amid criticism, Sanju got back to his best form in the fourth game, which included 15 fours and three sixes. This is the player's fourth century in his IPL career.
CSK had lost the toss and was sent to bat first. Sanju was confident from the first ball he faced. Instead of the usual style of increasing the score through sixes, this time the player focused on moving the scoreboard with beautiful boundaries.
Chennai lost captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (15) after the power play. Gaikwad was dismissed by Delhi skipper Axar Patel. Ayush Mathre, who came out at third, scored 59 runs off 36 balls before being retired hurt. Shivam Dube was also at the crease with Sanju in the final overs.
