PALAKKAD: In a heartwarming gesture, Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson gifted a mobile phone to a fan who approached him for a selfie. The recipient was T Sabareesh, a native of Kadampazhipuram in Palakkad. The incident took place yesterday around 5:30 p.m. near the Punchapadam bus stop.
Sabareesh and his friends had gone to play cricket at a local ground as usual. He is a fan of both Chennai Super Kings and Sanju Samson. He was wearing a yellow jersey and carrying a bat. During this time, he noticed a black Range Rover parked near the bus stop. He then saw Sanju Samson standing near the car and talking on his mobile phone. Sabareesh was surprised to see the cricketer in person, whom he had seen on TV during the IPL.
He approached Sanju and asked if he could take a selfie. “Of course,” Sanju replied. While taking the selfie, Sanju noticed that Sabareesh’s phone had a cracked display, and the picture did not come out clearly.
Immediately, Sanju opened the car’s trunk, took out a mobile phone, and handed it to Sabareesh. “You can keep this. Your phone’s display is damaged,” he said while gifting the phone. He also advised the boy to continue playing cricket well before leaving.
