Revenge by girlfriend; Youngster beaten up, robbed of money by nine-member gang in Kochi

CHERTHALA: A nine-member gang tricked a youngster using a woman and abducted him in the wee hours of the night to brutally torture him. The youngster was thrashed badly and was robbed by the gang. Cherthala police arrested seven people including two young women in the incident. Two people are absconding. Akhil, a native of Alappuzha, was abducted by the gang.

Aluva Choornikkara native Abdul Jalil (32), Thaikkattukara native Jalaluddin (35), Thaikkattukara Manjali house Muhammad Ramshad (25), Thaikkattukara Nachatthallat house Faisal (32), Palluruthy native Altaf (20), Kollam Karunagapally native Kalyani (20), and Palakkad native Manju (25) were arrested in the incident.

According to police: Akhil had a great friendship with one of the women in the gang. However recently, the relationship worsened and Akhil hurled abuse at the woman through the phone. This irked the lady as she consulted with her friends and strategically called Akhil near Cherthala railway station at night. Akhil was then taken to Kakkanad in Ernakulam and was beaten up by the gang. After stealing 3500 rupees and a phone from his wallet, Akhil was dropped on the road in an unconscious state.

The incident took place on December 23 at 2.30 am. A team led by SI KP Anilkumar nabbed the accused from a coffee shop in Aluva. Senior CPOs Satish, Girish, Arun Kumar, Praveesh, CPOs Ranjith and Pratibha were also in the investigation team.
