KOZHIKODE: Forest Minister A K Saseendran came to the fore against Idukki DCC chief C P Mathew's statement that elephants entering residential areas will be shot to death. The minister alleged that Mathew's statement is of great depth and scope and that he is saying having connections with forest plunderers without saying anything.
One should understand the characteristics of Idukki to catch wild elephants. The government cannot act illegally. The minister said one should not try to create law and order problem by making such irresponsible remarks. The DCC president said in a statement that he would help peace loving residents of Idukki to take law into their hands. The minister also alleged that an attempt is made to raise public sentiment against the left government.
The minister asked the congress to refrain from threatening people. Mathew’s statement indirectly says that he has links with forest plunderers.
