THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The child welfare committee(CWC) has asked to surrender the baby involved in the fake birth certificate scandal that took place in Kalamassery medical hospital. The CWC found the illegalities involved while handing the child for abortion and has given the deadline to the child protection officer to bring the baby on Monday.

A couple from Thripunithara adopted the baby through illegal means. After the news surfaced, it is learned that the couple along with the baby is on the run. The police are making stronger attempts to track down the three within days.

“ The child must be surrendered at the earliest to the CWC and will be provided care at a specialized childcare center,” said CWC chairperson KK Shaju

An inquiry will be soon led into the issue. The birth certificate was forged in a move to cover the illegalities involved in adoption, according to the findings. If the process takes speed, the couples will also be prosecuted in the issue. Meanwhile. Rehana, a temporary staff at the Kalamassery municipality who issued the fake certificate without any cross-checking was fired in a punitive action.
