Sold a drastic story, remarried again to steal Rs 41 lakhs: The story of Kollam native Shalini

KONGAD: A married woman who coaxed another man to marriage to abstract Rs 41 lakhs has been arrested. In this issue, Kottarakara native Shalini has been arrested. Her husband for his involvement in the crime was arrested before Shalini. The incident happened in December last year. Shalini and her husband rented a house for tailoring a plan to embezzle money. She simulated a drastic story saying her husband died in an accident and she has been a widow since. The story sold well with a broker who started finding alliances for Shalini. After finding her 'perfect match', Shalini asked money for treatment, and slowly, the money business started turning into a usual case. Feeling suspicious and losing a good share of his savings, the complainant approached the police after which her husband was arrested. Shalini in fear evaded arrest but the short run ended after her recent arrest. The police informed that Shalini is a history sheeter with similar crimes committed in many parts of the state.
