THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said that due to the discovery of rhodamine in cotton candy in Kollam, the food safety department has started a comprehensive investigation. The inspections are being conducted under the leadership of the recently formed State Special Task Force.

The Food Safety Department has shut down a factory in Kollam that was making cotton candy with banned colours. This kind of candy work was done in a building at Karunagapalli. The candy manufacturing premises were found to be unsanitary. Packed sweets prepared for sale were seized. Strict action will be taken against them. The minister informed that the inspection will continue vigorously.
