BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Monday decided to ban sales of Gobi Manchurian and cotton candy across the state. The Ministry of Health cited the addition of artificial colours such as Tartrazine and Rhodamine B in the cuisines which led to the ban.

According the Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, the test conducted on the food sample found the presence of 107 artificial colours. More than 107 samples were tested from various restaurants in the state.

The minister warned hoteliers that sales of these food items in future will have their license revoked and can invite jail terms of up to seven years.
