KOCHI: Sujith Singh, the owner of the shop Tea Capital, which serves tea 23 hours a day in Panampilly Nagar, has no time to rest. The shop has been flooded with tea lovers since Sujith took over the shop three years ago. The shop was started by his father Seethal Singh from Uttar Pradesh 33 years ago.
Sujith, who holds a graduate degree and diploma, did several jobs and ran a business before taking over Tea Capital. The decision proved to be correct. Up to 3,000 teas are sold every day. People will come to the shop from three in the morning. It is the special tea flavour from Uttar Pradesh, which was started by father and mother Omana, that attracts tea lovers. Both his parents are no more. The only break in business is from two to three in the morning, and that too for cleaning.
Most of those who come in search of tea, black tea, black coffee, coffee, cold boost, cold Horlicks etc. are youngsters. Many techies are also regular visitors here. The prices of tea and coffee are Rs 10 and Rs 15 respectively. Cold Boost, Cold Coffee and Cold Horlicks cost Rs 60. Small snacks are also available.
After completing his BCom, Sujith obtained a Diploma in Journalism and worked in various companies. He then ran a franchise of a courier company. He took over the tea shop after his mother's death. His younger brother Rajith Singh is also there to help him. Both of them have no connection with their father's state. 46-year-old Sujith lives in Panampilly Nagar with his wife Shruti and daughter Nayana.
