Vaidekam resort: Expert team for inspection

KANNUR: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) will continue with its investigation into the complaint against the controversial Vaidekam Resort, in which the family of LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan has a stake. An expert team consisting of engineers will be formed to clarify technical matters related to resort construction. The investigation team will seek the permission of the Director of Vigilance for this. A decision will be taken on whether to register a case on the complaint after the inspection by the expert team. VACB is saying that further investigation is required.

The other day, the vigilance team conducted a preliminary inspection at the resort following a complaint filed by Youth Congress leader Jobin Jacob alleging corruption in the construction of the resort. An inspection was also conducted at the Anthoor municipal office on the allegation that the Anthoor municipality had given illegally provided assistance to the construction of the resort.

The investigation team collected the information from the complainant over the phone. The detailed statement of the complainant will be recorded if a case has to be filed. The complaint states that Anthoor municipal chairperson, secretary and other officials conspired for the resort under the influence of EP Jayarajan, a former minister. A probe into the officials who colluded in the resort's construction is also demanded in the complaint.
