THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special adalat will be organized in April and May to speed up the disposal of backlogged online applications for land reclassification. For this, a workshop will be organized for RDO, Sub Collector, and other senior officials. Online applications are not processed and disposed of, as fast as offline applications (paper applications). After noticing this, Minister K Rajan proposed the special scheme.
A total of 32,399 online applications were processed. Of these, around 12,000 were processed along with paper applications. 2,32,508 applications have been received till March 20. The special scheme for processing paper applications ended in November. Out of a total of 2,26,901 applications received, all but 8316 were disposed of. The rest were not considered due to some technical error. Applications were made online from January 2022 onwards.
From 2018 to mid-March, the government received Rs 987 crore in land reclassification fees. The service of 990 temporary employees and leased vehicles has been extended for another six months. Despite the redeployment of staff, activities in many RDO offices are not at the intended pace. Those who were reappointed did not get their wages for three months. The position of the Finance Department is that those appointed through employment exchange cannot be paid on the same scale as permanent employees for more than six months and can only be paid as daily wages.
