THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has renewed the panel, earlier given to the Governor, for the appointment of temporary Vice-Chancellor of the Technical University. Digital University VC Dr. Saji Gopinath, Technical Education Director-in-Charge Dr. TP Byjubai, and Professor Abdul Nazir of CET are on the panel.

Dr. Vrinda V Nair, former academic dean of the technical university, and Dr. C Satish Kumar, principal and syndicate member of Kottayam Rajiv Gandhi Institute, who were on the earlier panel, were left out as they are retiring on the 31st. Byjubai who is on the panel has tenure till May. When Dr. Rajashree was removed from the post of VC by the Supreme Court, Byjubai was asked by the Governor to take over the post but she was not willing to. The governor, who had written to the government and asked the government about who should replace Prof. Ciza Thomas after she retires on the 31st, said that he has no objection on giving the charge to Saji Gopinath or anyone else suggested by the government. The government's action is because of this. The High Court had earlier recognized the government's power to make recommendations on the appointment of temporary VC. Ciza Thomas met with the governor yesterday. The Governor will leave for Delhi on April 3 after discussing the case with legal advisers on April 2. He will be back on the 8th.
