There are 15 bank holidays in April, know these dates to avoid inconvenience

NEW DELHI: April will be having additional bank holidays than others months with local and national holidays coming together. As it is the first month of the financial year, people might have to visit banks more often. Includes holidays on weekends and holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays, the banks will remain closed up to 15 days in April.


As local holidays are also included in this, banks may not be closed everywhere, but by having a clear idea of the holidays will save unnecessary hassles. Also, if your bank is closed on a given day, make sure you have other services, including ATM, internet banking, mobile banking, etc.

Bank holidays in April

April 1: As it is the beginning of the 2023-24 financial year, banks will use this day to close the accounts of the previous year.

April 4: Mahavir Jayanti

April 5: Babu Jagjeevan Ram Jayanthi

April 7: Good Friday

April 14: Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanthi

April 15: Vishu, (Bihu/Bengali New Year/Himachal Day)

April 18: Shab-ul-Qadr

April 21: Eid-ul-Fitr

April 22: Ramzan/ Eid

In Kerala, banks will get an extra holiday for five days. Banks in the state will be closed on April 1, 7, 14, 15 and 21. Also note that April 16 falls as a weekend holiday, so banks will be closed for three consecutive days from the 14th to the 16th. By checking the list published on the official website of the Reserve Bank, bank holidays specific to each state can be confirmed.
