MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed Gujarat University for being reluctant to admit that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was an alumnus of that university. “The educational institute should be proud for being recognised as alma mater of Prime Minister, isn’t it?’, he asked while reacting to the issue of Prime Minister’s degree certificates.

“Gujarat High Court slapped a fine of Rs. 25,000 on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for seeking details about Prime Minister’s degree certificates. Why Gujarat University hasn’t come forward to declare that PM Modi was an alumnus?”, the former Maharashtra CM asked. Gujarat High Court set aside the Chief Election Commission’s direction to Prime Minister’s Office, Delhi University and Gujarat University for furnishing details about PM Modi’s degree certificates while slapping fine on Kejriwal.

Uddhav also reiterated his party’s decision to ally with Congress and NCP in Maharashtra. “The three parties formed an alliance for power. Although we lost power, the alliance is still intact and powerful. BJP will indulge in politics of polarisation ahead of every election. BJP allege that Uddhav Thackeray had given up Hindutva. Can they produce any proof regarding this? Those who took oath by touching the Constitution are making it vulnerable by polarising the society”, he added.
