Man pleads guilty to murder of wife, a Malayali nurse and children; life sentence will be awarded, says report

LONDON: A man confessed to have killed his wife, a Malayali nurse in London and two children. The final verdict in the case will be pronounced in July. The Northampton Crown Court ordered to leave him in judicial custody till then. Reports said life sentence will be awarded to him.

Saji Chelavalel (52), killed his wife Anju (40) of Vaikom, a nurse in London and children Jhanvi (4) and Jeeva (6). Anju was working in a local hospital in Britain. Saju was a food delivery employee. They came to UK a year ago.

Parents and relatives of Anju could not reach her on the phone. When they came in search of them, the house was found locked from inside. When the police arrived and opened the house as informed by the relatives, found all lying in a pool of blood. Anju was already dead by then. Although the children were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, their lives could not be saved. Saju tried to flee but was caught by the police. Anju's family said that he used to harass her regularly. The couple got married in Bengaluru in 2021.
