CHENNAI: Rajasthan Royals under Sanju’s captaincy defeated Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings by three runs in IPL on Wednesday. The game witnessed a new record regarding the viewership. When MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were batting in the final overs, 2.2 crore people watched the match live on Jio Cinema. The earlier viewership record was on the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. 1.8 crore people saw the match. Now CSK-RR match broke that record.
This is not the first time that Dhoni has created a viewership record. In the match against Lucknow Super Giants, when CSK faced only three balls, 1.7 crore viewers watched it on Jio Cinema.
When the match in Chepauk stadium went on to the last over, fans flocked in large number to the live-streaming platform Jio Cinema.
Rajasthan Royals, who lost the toss had to bat first. They scored 175 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, while CSK managed to reach a score of 172/6. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were at the crease in the last over. Dhoni hit two sixes in the last over bowled by Sandeep Sharma but the match ended at 172/6.
