KOCHI: A complaint has been filed to the Supreme court Chief Justice and the President regarding the send-off function arranged by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to retiring High court Chief Justice S Manikumar. The complaint was filed by social activist Sabu Stephen.

The complainant alleges that send-off party by the government is a violation of judicial rules and Supreme Court orders. The complaint states that the government has conducted this as a ‘gratitude’ and demands probe into the actions taken by the Chief Justice in cases regarding the government.

Justice S Manikumar will retire on April 23. The government arranged a farewell for him at Leela Hotel, Kovalam. The Chief Minister attended the event along with family. Ministers KN Balagopal and P Rajeev were also present.
