Mother charred to death; police confused with unmarried son's statements

KADAKAVUR: A housewife’s charred body was found at home near Varkala. Janani (59) was staying with her son Vishnu ( 32) for many years. Her husband left her long before forcing the housewife to lead a life with her son. The police came to the spot and collected statements from Vishnu but were alerted seeing the edginess shown by the victim's son. Vishnu was the only one present during the gruesome incident.

Three days back, Vishnu rushed to the neighbor's house with a piece of unusual news. His hands were burnt when he revealed his mother's death to them. The suspicious neighbors called Janani’s elder son Bijin and asked him to come over. Bijin arrived at the spot to witness her mother's charred body. Forensic officials are looking for fingerprints while police have taken Vishnu into custody over his vague statements. Vishnu is a fisherman and is unmarried.
