Man knocked down by train in Varkala, engine wire pierces stomach

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 65-year-old man was knocked down by a train at Varkala. The dead has been identified as Bhanu of Muttappalam. The incident happened Friday morning at 9.20 am. Bhanu was knocked down by Intercity Express going to the capital city from Kollam.

The train knocked him down when he was trying to cross the level cross in front of the Varkala Station. He got stuck on the sharp wire in front of the engine. The Varkala Police and Fire Force separated the body from the engine with great difficulty as the wire pierced through his stomach. The body was shifted to Varkala Taluk Hospital for further proceedings.
