Man, accused of pouring acid on wife's face, arrested

PUNALUR: The police have arrested (35), the husband of Neethu (35), a nurse at Punalur Govt Taluk Hospital, for pouring acid on his wife's face. Vipin Raj, a native of Vettikavala, was arrested under the leadership of CI T Rajesh Kumar.

Neethu (35) was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital with burns on her face and eyes.

The incident happened around 5 pm on Sunday. Vipin, who had fallen out with Neetu, had come to Taluk Hospital to get the Aadhaar cards of his daughters. During a conversation, he poured a bottle full of acid on Neethu's face and ran away. Then the police arrested the Vipin from Chemmanthoor. Neethu was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Neethu gave a statement to the police that Vipin had been living separately for two months after becoming suspicious of her phone calls. The acid bottle was found by the police during the evidence. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
