Doctor was stabbed in back six times, attacked brutally in front of police

KOLLAM: The woman doctor, who was killed in the attack that happened at Kottarakkara taluk hospital, sustained six stab wounds. The doctors who treated her said that she received six stab wounds on her back. The victim is Dr Vandana Das, who died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The accused stabbed four including doctors. He also beat two other people. Doctor Vandana Das, hospital guard Manilal, home guard Alex Kutty and the accused’s relative Binu were stabbed.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at 4.30 am. The attack was carried by Sandeep (42) of Kudavattoor. The accused was taken into custody and was brought to the hospital for a medical examination and to dress his wounds. He attacked using the surgical scissors while he was being examined. The attack was in such a way that the stab from back reached the front. The attack was in front of the police.

Sandeep is a teacher of Nedumbana UP School. He was out from the de-addiction center. Sandeep sustained injuries on his legs during a fight with his brother. Following that, he was brought to Kottarakkara hospital to stitch his wounds and in between that he stabbed the doctor with the scissors.
