KOLLAM: A clash was witnessed between a member of the CPM and CPI the other day. At the end of the fight, the CPM activist bit off the CPI member’s finger. As he bit off the finger for half an hour, and as a delay occurred in taking it to the hospital, it couldn’t be re-attached.
The filmy style was witnessed in Melila Moolavattom. Though the incident happened on Sunday, it came to light only the other day. Those involved in the fight were neighbours and relatives. A dispute broke out between the two in a marriage house on Sunday evening. A verbal dispute broke out again at Moolavattom Junction on Sunday night at 11 pm. In between the fight, the CPM member bit off the thumb finger of the CPI activist.
The CPM member bit his finger hardly. He screamed in pain, but the CPM member did not leave it. Only after a great effort, he released the latter’s finger. The locals rushed him to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Only after admitting him there, they realised that his finger was detached. The relatives and locals returned and approached the CPM member, but he did not say anything about the detached finger. The detached piece was later found in a search conducted at the place where the incident happened. Though it was taken to the hospital, as it was badly bruised it could not be attached.
