THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said that southwest monsoon has reached Kerala. Monsoon, which starts in early June every year, arrived a little late this time. There was widespread rain in various parts of Kerala the other day. The Meteorological Department confirmed that monsoon has arrived in the state after this. Monsoon rain clouds reached over Lakshadweep yesterday but were unable to advance due to Cyclone Biparjoy. Monsoon started moving towards Kerala as the cyclone moved northwards from the Arabian Sea.
The meteorological department has also informed that there will be isolated heavy rains at lonely places in the state in the coming hours. An orange alert has been sounded in Kozhikode. Yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kannur today. Yellow alert has been announced in various districts till Monday.
