CHENNAI: Ex-Tamil Nadu DGP Rajesh Das has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a sexual harassment case. It was the Villupuram court that sentenced the ex-DGP to three years in jail for sexually harassing a woman IPS officer while on duty. The incident took place in 2021.
In her complaint, the woman IPS officer had alleged that the superior officer sexually harassed her while she was going on duty for the security of the then Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy.
Following the allegations, the AIADMK government suspended Rajesh Das and appointed a six-member committee to conduct an investigation. The investigation team had recorded the statements of 68 persons, including policemen.
