Kerala State Film Awards: Mammootty likely to be named Best Actor, 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' to bag Best Film award

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to a recent report, Lijo Jose Pellissery's 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' is expected to win this year's Kerala State Film Award for Best Film. Mammootty, who performed effortlessly as James and Sundaram in the film is likely to be named the Best Actor. It is reported that Mammootty's performance in 'Puzhu' and 'Rorschach' also helped him to bag the award. Kunchacko Boban was there in the competition till the last minute, challenging Mammootty with films such as 'Ariyippu', 'Nna Than Case Kodu' and 'Pada'.

Anand Ekarshi's 'Aattam', Sanalkumar Sasidharan's 'Vazhakku', Tharun Moorthy's 'Saudi Vellakka', Mahesh Narayanan's 'Ariyippu', and Shahi Kabir's 'Ela Veezha Poonchira' have made it to the awards list.

Serin Shihab, who acted in 'Aattam', and Vincy Aloysius, who acted in 'Rekha' are in the race for the Best Actress award. Actress Devi Varma is likely to get a special jury mention for her performance in the film 'Saudi Vellakka'.

The awards were decided by a final jury headed by Bengali filmmaker Goutam Ghose. Minister Saji Cherian will announce the awards at 3 pm today.
