Director Vignesh Shivan landed in a soup after he insouciantly liked a tweet that spewed factoids about famed director Lokesh Kanakaraj splitting his association with superstar Vijay. The ‘Naanum Rowdy Thaan’ director liked a tweet from a Twitter user known for his sour takes on actor Vijay.
The Twitter user shared a video of Lokesh Kanakaraj’s interview and weaved a story saying how Lokesh is not mentioning actor Vijay’s name in the 'Leo' promotion tweets and pointed this as the result of a recent fallout between the two. Vignesh Shivan liked this tweet which added to the fury of Vijay fans.
The fandom erupted in massive trolls directed at Vignesh and he had to devise an apology to “Vijay Sir Fans” to allay the tensions.
“Without even seeing the message I liked the tweet. Dear Vijay fans, I am sorry for the confusion. I am a huge Loki fan and I love the way he talks in interviews. I express my apologies to all the good Thalapathy fans across the globe.” Vignesh tweeted his apology which brought down the trolling to a lesser level.
The movie ‘Leo’ has turned into a touchy subject ever since its announcement. Actor Vijay’s purported political entry and the mixed review received for the much-trumpeted trailer have made the film a potboiler among fans and rivals. Vignesh Shivan craned his neck unsolicitedly in the already brewing ruckus and he had to pay the price.
Dear Vijay sir fans , Loki fans … sorry for the confusion 🙏 without even seeing the msg , the context or the content of the video or the tweet , by jus seeing Loki’s interview I liked the video !
