THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Promotions to higher-ranking positions in corporations and municipalities are being reinstated. The government has issued an official gazette notification, approving the list prepared by the Departmental Promotion Committee for the position of Senior Superintendent. Those who are promoted to the role of Senior Superintendent will serve as Revenue Officers.
This move comes after concerns were raised by "Kerala Kaumudi" last Monday, reporting a shortage of revenue officers to oversee tax collection in local bodies due to the suspension of promotions.
It has been announced that the promotion process for vacant positions of Clean City Managers in the Health category, with a similar grade, will also be completed shortly.
The matter of Clean City Managers was also addressed by the Departmental Promotion Committee, which approved the list for the Senior Superintendent positions. The list for this category will also be approved and announced in the near future.
Following the merger, the positions of Senior Superintendent in the Ministerial Department and Clean City Manager in the Health Department were officially recognized within the Local Government Department as public service roles.
Despite a significant number of retirements in April and May, the lack of replacements has had a notable impact on municipal tax collection and the coordination of waste management activities leading to employee dissatisfaction.
