Lady doctor in Kayamkulam commits suicide after son dies in Canada

KAYAMKULAM: Dr Mehrunnisa (48), a doctor of Mavelikkara District Hospital was found dead at her home in Kayamkulam. Her son had died in an accident in Canada. She ended her life after knowing about it. The Kayamkulam police have reached the spot. She was found dead at 7.30 am this morning. She was depressed knowing the incident.

Mehrunnisa, wife of advocate Shefeek Rehman of Sithara near Kayamkulam Fire Station, was serving at the ENT department of Mavelikkara district hospital. Their eldest son Binyamin was an engineering student in Canada. He died in an accident the other day.

Her friend said that she had told her that her son died, there is no use in living. She took the drastic step when her husband and younger son went to the mosque. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. The body will be handed over to her relatives after post mortem.
