KOZHIKODE: A Vande Bharat train came to a halt after a passenger engaged in drinking and smoking inside the washroom of one of its coaches. The fire detection system was activated in the train, after which it was stopped. The incident took place when the Vande Bharat Express running between Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram reached Thikkodi.

Then the mechanical department staff came and changed the panel in the fire detection system and the train resumed running. Due to this incident, the train ran 15 minutes late. The passenger has been fined for the incident and the information has been handed over to the Railway Protection Force.

In an earlier incident, the Vande Bharat Express had stopped at Pattambi and Tirur after a passenger smoked. A fine was collected from them. All Vande Bharat trains are equipped with an automatic fire detection system. So if there is a fire, the train will stop.
