THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rain will intensify in various districts of Kerala. IMD said isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts will receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the next three hours. Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 km per hour are also expected.
A cyclonic circulation prevails over northern Sri Lanka and adjoining areas. Due to its influence, Kerala is likely to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning for the next five days. IMD has warned that isolated places in the state are likely to receive heavy rain today and tomorrow. However, fishing has not been banned in the Kerala-Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep area.
