Attempted to sexually abuse seven-year-old girl inside autorickshaw; 24-year-old sentenced to 10 years in prison and Rs 50,000 fine

TALIPARAMBA: A youth has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 fine for attempting to sexually abuse a 7-year-old girl inside an autorickshaw. It was Taliparmba Fast Track POCSO Court Judge R Rajesh who sentenced 24-year-old Pariyaram native Subish aka Santhosh (24).

The incident related to the case took place on January 7 this year. As per the complaint, the girl, who came for the festival with her parents, was sitting alone in the autorickshaw when Subish attempted to assault her sexually. Subish, who was subsequently arrested by the police, had been continuing in remand for one year.

In a similar incident, a school teacher was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for molesting a female student inside an exam hall. Kozhikode Memunda native Lalu was found guilty by the Nadapuram fast-track POCSO court.
