THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The recently premiered film 'Kathal' starring Mammootty made a remarkable impact at the film festival held yesterday showcasing the versatile actor's dedication to his craft. Mammootty's exceptional portrayal once again captivated the audience reaffirming his commitment to his roles.

The movie 'Kathal The Core' gained substantial traction even before its theatrical release drawing an increased audience at the film festival. Mammootty's previous film, 'Nanpakal Neerath Mayakkam,' had also generated significant anticipation during the last fair.

The storyline revolves around Mathew Devassy, a retired co-operative bank employee who unexpectedly enters the fray as a candidate for a ward in a panchayat by-election. However, shocking news surfaced when locals discovered that Mathew's wife Omana had filed for divorce on the grounds of his involvement in a relationship with a boyfriend named Thangan. The film aims to surprise and captivate Malayalam cinema enthusiasts with its intriguing theme.

Mammootty not only took on a challenging role that few leading actors dared to portray but also assumed the role of producer for the film, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the craft of acting. The movie's premiere at Kairali Theatre was met with overwhelming demand as reservations were filled within seconds. Despite efforts by delegates, a portion of those queuing for hours were unable to secure seats leading to discontent among the attendees.

There were complaints about the seating arrangements alleging that the 30 percent of non-reserved seats were occupied by people who did not wait in line. Additionally, some claimed that certain people were granted entry through the back door sparking dissatisfaction among the waiting audience.

Director Jio Baby, screenwriter Adarsh Sukumaran and actors Kumar Sunil and Sudhi Kozhikode graced the screening with their presence expressing joy at the audience's enthusiastic participation in the festival.
