NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court has ruled in favour of Nimishapriya’s mother’s plea to visit her daughter who is currently on death row in Sana jail in Yemen. The Court directed the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate necessary measures for the visit.

During the hearing, the Court questioned the Ministry's stance after it had initially objected to granting permission for Nimishipriya's mother to meet her daughter despite the urgent plea citing it as a potential lifesaving visit.

Furthermore, the Union Ministry of External Affairs had previously sent a letter to Nimishipriya's mother urging reconsideration of her family’s decision to travel to Yemen for her release.

Representing Nimishipriya's mother, lawyer KR Subhash Chandran apprised the court about Samuel Jerome, a Tamil Nadu native who volunteered to assist Premakumari (Nimishipriya's mother) in Yemen. Additionally, information regarding two Malayalis who volunteered to accompany Premakumari was presented to the court. As per the court's directive, a detailed affidavit was requested from them. Subsequently, the Court issued an order permitting Nimishipriya's mother to travel to Yemen, following the submission of these details.
