Tax evasion: GST department’s raid in firm of M M Mani's brother

IDUKKI: The central GST department raided the establishment of Lambodharan, brother of former minister M M Mani. The raid was conducted at high range Spices in Idukki Adimali Iruttukanam.

The GST department's action was based on the complaint against Lambodharan for tax evasion. More than eight officers reached the place at 10.30 in the morning and conducted the raid. The firm has nine employees. None of them were allowed to go out. Moreover, it is reported that their phones have also been confiscated. Lambodharan has been summoned. High Range Spices is an organization that targets tourists visiting Idukki.

There were controversies in Lambodharan's name earlier. A few months ago there was a controversy regarding the initiation of the zip line project in the name of his wife. The panchayat and tourism department had given permission for the zip line project. However, it was alleged that the revenue authorities illegally helped bring the zip line project on the land which was allowed to be used only for house construction and agriculture.
