THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan on Monday said that the Congress has stated in its manifesto that if it comes to power, all the laws that were made violating the Constitution will be repealed. He was inaugurating a seminar organized by KPCC to explain the manifesto released by the Congress at the national level.
"There is no need to specially say that the Citizenship Act will be repealed. The eighth page of the manifesto says about the Citizenship Act. If the Chief Minister has doubts, he can read it," Satheesan said.
"The manifesto also deals with the protection of linguistic minorities and religious minorities. The manifesto promises to uphold the fundamental values of constitutional principles. Justice provided to women is the biggest feature of the Congress manifesto. There are aids for young people to live in the country. There is also a promise to provide educational scholarships. The manifesto shares an environment-friendly development vision," he said.
Ramesh Chennithala, who presided over the seminar, said that the manifesto is the Magna Carta of secularism and constitutional values.
"It contains clear assurances. Justice will be ensured for the people who are left behind without getting the treatment they deserve in the society. The Congress manifesto includes the suggestions of the people received during the two yathras led by Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi has already announced in Parliament and outside that the Congress will repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act," Chennithala said.
