NEW DELHI: It has been reported that stale food was provided to passengers on a Vande Bharat train. The incident took place on the Vande Bharat going from Delhi to Varanasi. A passenger complained that the food provided on the train was stale and rotten-smelling. The passenger also posted a video showing his fellow passengers returning the stale food.
In the video, passengers can be seen asking the staff to take away the food. The video was shared by a passenger named Akash Keshari. He said that he received bad service on the train.
Akash Keshari raised the allegation on X by tagging Indian Railways, Vande Bharat Express and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Akash noted that the food served on the train was smelly and stale. He added that the caterers were tarnishing the reputation of Vande Bharat Express. He also sought a complete refund of the money he paid for the food on the Vande Bharat train.

Indian Railways assured that the complaint has been officially registered. IRCTC also responded on the matter. IRCTC stated that it sincerely regretted the bad experience faced by the passenger and was taking the matter seriously. It also said that it had taken action against the service provider and issued an order to dismiss the employees.
