Police file three more cases against Rahul Mamkootathil; court to hear crucial bail plea on Wednesday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress State President Rahul Mamkootathil who is now in remand after being arrested earlier in charges related to the Youth Congress Secretariat March, has been charged in three more cases. On Tuesday, the police arrested and produced Rahul before the court where he received bail in two cases. For another case, the court remanded Rahul for another 14 days.

Earlier, Rahul was remanded till January 22 and now it has been extended till 30. This is happening when Rahul's bail application is about to be considered on Wednesday. Museum police arrested Rahul on Tuesday for his participation in the DGP office march. The two cases registered by the Cantonment Police are for smashing two police buses during the youth congress secretariat march on the 20th of last month. The court granted bail to Rahul in both cases. Charges such as destruction of public property were charged against Rahul. The Cantonment Police registered arrests in two cases and the Museum Police in one case at the District Jail.

Rahul filed a bail petition in the District Principal Sessions Court expressing doubts about the health and medical examination report produced by the police.

The Cantonment Police registered a case against Rahul following the violence that took place in the secretariat march by the Youth Congress on the 20th of December. Rahul the fourth accused in the case was arrested in a strange manner as police circled his house in Adoor on the 9th of this month. The night march to the secretariat on Wednesday will be inaugurated by BV Srinivas, National President of the Youth Congress.
