Head nurse who accidentally fell into underground floor in Malappuram district hospital, dies

TIRUR: A seriously injured nurse died after falling from a building which was under construction. The dead is T J Mini (48) of Thrissur Chalakudy Chettikulam, head nurse of Malappuram district hospital. The accident happened at 12 noon yesterday and she died early Wednesday morning.

Mini fell from the ground floor of the hospital's new building to the underground floor. This is a new building built for oncology treatment. Mini had come for inspection along with the nursing superintendent and another nurse as part of the shifting of the hospital's cancer treatment ward to a new building. While checking the ground floor, she opened a door and stepped on it thinking it was the floor. However, beyond the door was the underground floor. With this, Mini fell down about eight meters.


As part of the construction work, wooden pieces were kept here. She fell on top of it. Mini was taken to the hospital by the staff. Mini, who suffered severe head and stomach injuries, was admitted to a private hospital in Kottakkal for further treatment.
