Elderly man dies after casting his vote at home in T'puram

VELLANADU: An elderly man died after casting his vote at home. The deceased has been identified as TK Thankappan (85) of Thangabhavan in Vellanadu's Neerazhi. He died at 11.30 am on Saturday. He was at home due to old age ailments. Thankappan, a resident of the town ward of Vellanadu Panchayat, was supposed to vote at booth number 109 of Vellanadu Higher Secondary School. Even though his health was bad, Thankappan was excited to vote in the Lok Sabha elections. This time, there is a system for voting at home for people over 85 years of age and differently-abled persons. According to the application given at the Election Commission, a special polling team went to Thankappan's house to register his vote.

The body was cremated in the evening.
