'Will kill father if relationship ends'; 16-year-old girl commits suicide, friend arrested

KASARGOD: A 16-year-old girl from Badiatukka, Kasaragod who attempted suicide following threats from a social media friend has died. The girl took her own life after being confronted by Anwar, a resident of Mogral. He was later arrested by the police.

Anwar befriended the teenager online leading to family objections and the girl distancing herself. Recently, Anwar confronted her after school threatening harm and even her father's life if she ended the relationship. Fearing for her safety, the girl ingested poison upon reaching home. Relatives of the girl filed a police complaint. She succumbed to death during hospital treatment.

The girl's body is at Kasaragod General Hospital, and police are reportedly monitoring two accomplices of Anwar. The incident sheds light on the dangers of online relationships, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and safety measures.
