NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started presenting the last budget of the second Modi government in Parliament. The Interim Budget is being presented as the Lok Sabha elections are just around the corner. This is Nirmala Sitharaman's sixth budget.
During the budget presentation, the Finance Minister said that there is a new revival in the economy, there have been positive changes in ten years and the country has grown rapidly under the Modi government. Nirmala Sitharaman added that the country has overcome many challenges.
It is believed that welfare announcements have been stuffed in the budget ahead of the elections. The next government will present the full budget. However, in 2019, the first Modi government presented the full budget instead of the interim budget. Ahead of the budget presentation Thursday morning, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called on President Draupadi Murmu. The President greeted the Finance Minister. Union Ministers of State Bhagwat Krishna Rao and Pankaj Chaudhary were also present with Nirmala Sitharaman.
