Six killed, many injured at firecracker factory blast in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: Six people have been killed and 60 seriously injured in a fire that broke out inside a firecracker factory at Harda in Madhya Pradesh. The flames triggered several explosions, sparking panic in the nearby areas.

The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Many of them are in a serious condition. Residents of Narmadapuram district, near Harda, also felt tremors as a result of the blast. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asked the authorities about the incident. Minister Uday Pratap Singh and other senior officials will visit the accident site soon. Hospitals in Bhopal and Indore have been instructed to be ready to provide emergency treatment to those injured in the accident. The chief minister via social media informed that more fire rescue personnel will reach the accident site.

Soon after the explosion, visuals of huge flames and smoke billowing from the factory emerged. In the footage, people can be seen running from the area in fear of their lives. Officials said efforts are on to bring the fire under control. The district collector said that the help of the national disaster management department has been sought.
